Recipebook for leadership

Along the last 23 years of my life and yada yada, you know the drill. let me skip to the melodious opening intro where I prove my credibility through my age and experience and instead talk about what’s important, what’s rare, and what’s sorely needed in the world- genuine, trustworthy and competent Leaders.

  1. Ere’s the five points on how to manufacture a good leader-

  2. A good leader is one who has gotten his own hands dirty with the activities he is delegating and leading. A good leader practices what he preaches, and if need be does he shit himself when no one else wants to.

  3. A good leader is one who has been given prior responsibility to prove his mettle, a good leader is one who has been once a follower, turned into a leader by his ability to take an initiative, and then the handing over of responsibilities to him.

  4. A leader is a leader when he knows how to maintain calm amidst the chaos. If the delegates are scurrying amidst the chaos, its the leaders job to maintain them back to order, failing which, just like the dominoes falling in a line, starting from the smallest one to the biggest one, all hell eventually breaks lose. to prevent this, a single piece of domino removed from the line is enough to prevent all from collapsing. This is only possible when the outcome is separated from the present.

  1. The basic principle observed in all humans is that we want to make life easy; ( to invent a solution that solves a problem, thats the very principle of why things are invented/discovered , may it be inventing a wheel, or discovering the uses of fire) We can also see that humans are pack animals, and NO ONE is just born to lead. A natural response of humans is to follow, we are social animals after all. “Its so much easier to follow someone who knows their shit, and multiple cooks spoil the broth anyway, so how about let the most capable person tell us what to do, and we do it trusting that he has the well being of the entire community in mind, right?, the easiest way out of handling a mountainful of responsibility, is to follow someone, who will lead us to a better life, besides one can use him as scapegoat if things don’t work out, to protect myself from responsibility and perhaps danger. “ A good leader realizes the cons of leading outweigh the pros of it, yet chooses to do so because no one else will stand up to taking responsibility, hence by choosing to take up responsibility, you are in fact, fighting your natural instincts to take the easier way out, good for you.

  2. Lastly, summarizing all the points above, A leader is one who has been given the reins multiple times, had prior experience heading a group of people or a project, including messing up a few times too, but still choosing to do so the same again the next morning, the next morning, and the morning after, that drive to stand up despite falling down and falling again, because the world will be in chaos if no one takes the responsibility to, is what makes a good leader.

What I imagine a world without leaders would be like
